About · Loka = local
We build tools, not upload queues
LokaPDF is an independent project focused on one idea: PDF work should happen on your device, under your control.
Why “Loka”?
Loka comes from local. The name is the product promise: your PDFs are processed in your browser with JavaScript and WebAssembly — not sent to our servers for merging, splitting, or conversion.
Most online PDF sites ask you to upload sensitive documents to an unknown data center. We chose a different architecture on purpose. When you use LokaPDF, the files you select stay on your machine. We provide the interface and the code; your computer does the work.
What we believe
- Privacy by design — not privacy as marketing copy.
- Tools first — clear actions, minimal friction, no forced signup.
- Independence — a focused product, not a clone of another PDF brand.
Brand
LokaPDF and lokapdf.com are our brand. The name, logo, and site experience are not free for others to copy into a competing PDF product. Your files stay yours; our brand stays ours. See our Terms of Service for trademark and intellectual-property terms. Report brand misuse to [email protected].
How it works technically
LokaPDF runs in modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). Core operations use client-side libraries such as pdf-lib for merging and splitting. Heavier tasks like compression may use WebAssembly where needed. Nothing in this flow requires us to store your document content.
